Malnutrition the Enemy! Feed To Grow the SOLUTION!!!

Quick Facts

Over 11 Million children’s growth are Stunted in Nigeria due to Malnutrition.

Nigeria is facing a Crisis of Malnutrition and Ranks second behind India among all countries with the highest number of stunted children.

Every day, 16,000 children age under 5 die from preventable causes and malnutrition contributes to nearly HALF of these deaths.

Unless we make faster progress, by 2030 almost 70 million children will die before their 5th birthday.

Feed To Grow has identified malnutrition in children under  5 years old as a Global Crisis; more so, as a major challenge in Africa, South East Asia and South America.

They  have identified this need for quality nutrition (not quantity alone) in Nigeria and are committed towards improving the lives of malnourished children through evidence-based community interventions,

Therapeutic Feeding Programs,

Empowerment Programs,

Breastfeeding Campaign

and other Health/ Educational Projects.

In one year, FEED TO GROW has gained hundreds of dynamic young and passionate volunteers across 15 Countries, conducted 5 Free Medical Camps with over 2000 beneficiaries in Pakistan, Trained over 25 traditional birth attendants (TBA), Educated more than 300 maternal mothers on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices and currently have 300 malnourished children e n r o l l e d i n 5 U N I C E F O u t – P a t i e n t T h e r a p e u t i c c e n t e r s i n p a r t n e r s h i p w i t h Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHDA); with an ongoing enrolment process of their mothers into an empowerment program to enable them sustain their nutritional needs after rehabilitation.

WHAT IS THE 2018 GLOBAL MALNUTRITION CAMPAIGN?

Feed To Grow is pleased to introduce the 2018 Global Malnutrition Campaign, launched to create global awareness, on the saddening realities of malnutrition in children under age 5 in underserved communities and likewise facilitate the sustainability of their  various ongoing malnutrition interventions across communities.

WHY ARE YOU LAUNCHING THIS CAMPAIGN?

The Global Campaign draws needed support for the continuity of our malnutrition intervention, which includes:

  1. Enrolling selected 182 mothers, of our rehabilitated malnourished children, into an empowerment program, to sustain the welfare of their children after therapy.
  2. Conduct a Post therapy monitoring, evaluation and Intervention (MEI), of 300 rehabilitated children, over a period of 3-6 months; to prevent relapse and ensure excellent recovery; enabling them thrive medically, psycho-socially and intellectually amongst their peers.
  3. A preliminary project extension, into Nasarawa Main Town; a newly identified community in Nasarawa LGA, at risk of malnutrition.

WHAT IS YOUR CAMPAIGN TARGET?

The 2018 Global Malnutrition Campaign targets to raise up to 12,415,000 million Naira (35,000 USD), to facilitate the above listed interventions; whilst reaching thousands and millions of people worldwide, informing and imploring them to join us as stakeholders, partners, volunteers and donors against this fight on child and maternal malnutrition.

WHAT IS THE THEME OF THIS YEARS CAMPAIGN?

Our Theme for this year’s 2018 Global malnutrition campaign is SKIP ONE FEED ONE.

With malnutrition being the underlying cause of the death of 2.6 million children each year – one-third of the global total, of children’s deaths; we are urging everyone to do something about it by skipping that daily, monthly or yearly routine, like a family vacation, shopping, cable subscription, Salon treat, movie trip, date night, coffee stops and donating its monetary value to feed one child.
